August Drop-Off Guide
What We're Looking For Right Now

Summer intake has wrapped up and we're making room for what Portland families need next: transitional layers, back-to-school clothing, and the natural fibers our shoppers ask for every week. Here's exactly what to bring in August, and what to hold onto a little longer.
If you're standing in front of a closet trying to work out what's worth bringing in, this is the list. We just closed summer intake and opened up transitional pieces, back-to-school, and toys, so what we want right now looks pretty different than it did in July.

Bring Us These
Transitional Layers
Cardigans, open-knit sweaters, and lighter layers from Free People, Anthropologie, and Madewell. The test: it works with bare arms at noon and a jacket at 8am.
Lightweight Outerwear
Denim and utility jackets from Levi's, plus rain shells from Columbia and Patagonia. Portland mornings are already cooling off.
Long-Sleeve Tops and Flannels
Henleys, long-sleeve tees, and flannels from J. Crew, Banana Republic, and Eileen Fisher.
Full-Length Denim and Corduroy
Jeans, trousers, and corduroy from Madewell, Kut from the Kloth, and Levi's. Cropped and full-length both work now.
Closed-Toe Footwear
Loafers, flats, and ankle boots from Cole Haan, Clarks, Frye, and Sam Edelman. Hold the sandals until spring.
Athleisure
Lululemon, Athleta, and Vuori leggings and lightweight layers move all year.

We're Especially Looking For Natural Fibers
Cotton, wool, merino, cashmere, linen, and silk hold up through a second life, which is what our shoppers are counting on. It's worth a look at the care tag while you sort.

A Quick Check Before You Pack
Look everything over in good light. Stains and pilling are the top two reasons a piece doesn't make it to the floor, and both hide in a dim closet. Stretched collars and worn-through elbows have usually given what they had. We can't take underwear or socks, regardless of condition.
When To Come In
